Eurovision nightGot myself some ice cream and will be making myself compfy on the sofa so I'm ready for the big, glittery, horrible music, camp, pointless politics, drama that is eurovision. It never disappoints me. :la:
Sadly I will be alone for this one. Matt had to do a concert he didn't want to do, so I will be live tweeting (humonlazydiva) my impression of the whole shebang. :D
The Echo chamber dilemmaThe promise of the Internet was that unlimited information and experiences would draw us together. But instead it seems to have driven us apart.
For years I've observed this behavior but haven't been able to vocalize it correctly. Originally I called the behavior of collective opinions as "the hive mentality" of the Internet. But that wasn't exactly right and I often got called out on it. The most prominent example was when I made a comic about a guy disagreeing with opinions and being shouted at till he remained quiet, eventually fading into the background with everyone else. The consensus of that comic was that if you disagree with someone you aren't bullied into not speaking, but instead are free to go someplace else where people who do agree with you exist. And you know what? That wasn't what i was trying to convey, but is sadly true. The Internet is not a hive mind. It's many tiny pocket echo chambers of mutual agreements.

Callibrate your Wacom tutorialHad you  finally  made  the transition from intuos 3 to intuos 4?, or Are you rich to change into an intuos 5? Had you made the transition from a first generation cintiq  to the new ones?. More levels of pressure will mean  more quality to the paintings, am i right?. 
Did you thought that by default the pen will it be like using butter on bread?, you try it for the first time and you love all of it, you said i have sooooooo much control on my strokes im having a blast. Then only  to realize you only have total control of the brush but when you are moving it really slow?. But when you do quick strokes the pressure drops a lot of paint making you redraw tons of stuff?
Did you ever thought that painter its hard to handle with new tablet? Too much pressure? If it has more pressure why i cant control more easier the beggining of the stroke which is more crucial?.

Graphics Tablet

Ok I've seen some really impressive things on DA that were done with graphics tablets and heard alot about them.
So I figured I'd take the plunge and get one , I didn't want to drop a lot of coin because money is tight and if it turned out it wasn't my thing I wouldn't feel like I wasted a lot of cash.

Not super high price and it seems to have gotten pretty good reviews.
When it arrived I set it up and immediately thought I had made a mistake in getting it.
I know I'm not gonna set the world on fire with my drawing but suddenly I was drawing like a two year old.
I felt totally alien and awkward to me , I put it aside disgusted, but after about a hour or so thought to go online and look for some tutorials. And found this one: [link] which helped quite a bit, enough to help me regain my interest in learning how to work with the tablet.
So it is at this point that I'd like to ask those of you out there who use a graphics tablets if you have any helpful hints , tricks or tips. Or any tutorials that you know of that would be helpful.
Also any particular software you would recommend.
To any who respond thanx in advance for any info.

pffff...i start to paint with the tablet around two years ago and i still feel like a completely rookie...you ,ve to change your way of painting and think in layers and on,t be afraid of mistakes cause you always can erase it easy...and practice,practice,practice all the time you can...start with easy subjects and always try to sketch in paper..scan it and finish with the computer....you could see some good tutorials in digital tutors and the gnomon workshop dvd are expensive to buy...but you can download most of them....and don,t give up..you gonna spend tons of frustated hours but it,s the future and like artist can,t give the back to it
